Yondr Welcomes Former Schools Minister Sir Nick Gibb as Strategic Adviser
A significant step forward for phone-free education in the UK.
We're proud to announce that Sir Nick Gibb, one of the most influential education policymakers of the past two decades, has joined Yondr as a Strategic Adviser.
As Schools Minister under four Prime Ministers, Sir Nick helped shape modern UK education. His legacy includes the Phonics Screening Check, Multiplication Tables Check, and comprehensive reforms to the national curriculum, GCSEs, and A levels. Under his leadership, England climbed the global education rankings—rising to 4th in the PIRLS reading study and improving its standing in PISA mathematics from 17th to 11th.
“Nick’s deep understanding of education systems and his commitment to evidence-based approaches align perfectly with Yondr’s mission,” said Graham Dugoni, CEO of Yondr.
Sir Nick's experience will guide Yondr as we deepen our impact across UK schools—helping institutions create distraction-free, high-focus classrooms where students can thrive. He'll advise on education policy, strategic partnerships, and product development to ensure our school program continues to meet the real needs of educators.
Why It Matters
The debate around phones in schools is accelerating, and momentum for bell-to-bell phone-free learning is building across the UK. Sir Nick's appointment signals a renewed focus on student well-being, academic achievement, and evidence-backed solutions that help schools reclaim focus.
“I am delighted to join Yondr at this critical time when the relationship between technology and education continues to evolve,” said Sir Nick. “I look forward to supporting Yondr’s innovative approach to creating distraction-free learning environments.”
A Proven Approach
Yondr launched its first UK school partnership in 2018. Today, hundreds of schools nationwide—including London, Kent, and Edinburgh—use our structured program to eliminate phone distractions and improve school culture.
At its core is our simple, secure pouch system, which allows students to keep their phones while removing access during the school day. Combined with training, policy consultation, and ongoing support, our leading approach is easy to implement and widely embraced by staff, students, and families.
Schools that implement Yondr have reported:
Higher academic performance
Improved classroom engagement
Fewer behavioral issues and less cyber bullying
Stronger social connections and school culture
